FASD Youth Mentor Position

June 10 – August 16, 2019 35 Hours per week
  • High School Diploma
  • Between the ages of 15 – 30 years old (Canada Summer Job Grant guidelines)
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred (Canada Summer Job Grant Guidelines)
  • Preference for a Post-Secondary 2 year certificate program in related field
  • Must be reliable and able to work in a team setting and independently under minimal supervision
  • Be able to provide a clear criminal records check and child welfare check
  • Must be willing and able to attend training sessions
  • Flexible work hours including some weekends
  • Must have class 5 or GDL drivers and willing to provide abstract
  • Ability to speak Dene or Cree an asset
  • Knowledge of FASD an asset or willingness to train.
  • Willing to travel to other communities in the region
  • Provide direct outreach to clients with a focus on life, social and communication skills
  • Plan, organize and supervise youth activities
  • Support and actively engage with youth as directed by Youth Coach
  • Be willing to take CPR and First Aide Training
  • Attend work as scheduled and participate in training as directed
  • Starts at $20/hour

DATA CLERK

  • Post-secondary student preferred
  • Skills and experience in preparation of documents
  • Computer knowledge and skills
  • An interest or passion in data gathering and written history an asset
  • Must be reliable and able to work in a team setting and independently under minimal supervision
  • Be able to provide a clear criminal records check and child welfare check
  • Must be willing and able to attend training sessions
  • Flexible work hours
  • Must have class 5 or GDL drivers and willing to provide abstract
  • Use word processing, Excel, database to prepare reports, memos, and other documents
  • Gather and interpret data from sources provided
  • Develop a written and pictorial history of the NWR FASD Society
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Starting wage $20/hour
  • 35 hours /week

FASD Housing Coach/Day/Night

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience in the social services field in the area of disability supports an asset
  • Knowledge of and experience in FASD informed supports an asset
  • Must hold a valid Alberta Driver’s License (Class 5) or GDL
  • Ability to work a 12 hour shift
  • Must provide a Intervention Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check annually
  • Standard 1st Aid is an asset
  • Ability to work effectively within a team setting
  • Good communication skills and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to send and receive email
  • Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds of the clients or residence the society serves
  • Ability to speak and/or understand the Dene or Cree language is considered an asset
  • Ability to receive and follow through on constructive criticism

“The FASD Society, in supporting parents, is accepting applications from interested individuals or couples who are able to provide respite services for families.  Please indicate if you can do overnight respite or day.  Also please indicate what age groups you are able to provide respite for.
