Mental Health Week 2024

This years theme for mental health week is Compassion. Canada Mental Health week issued a “call to be kind”, because Compassion Connects Us All. In recognizing the meaning behind this week and the importance of emphasizing kindness, in our office, we planned a handful of events focused on compassion, connection and kindness.

Coworker Café

Our first event was a chill conversation café set up in the staff break room. Yummy snacks were provided and conversation starters were laid out to prompt coworkers to start up fun and random conversations they may not have otherwise have had with each other.

Hats on for Mental Health

On May 8th staff members wore hats of all kinds in support of Mental Health Awareness.

Mental Health Work Day Pause

In addition to wearing our hats, on May 8th staff members were encouraged to take a break and head outside to get some fresh air and have some time to focus on themselves.

Compassion Brainstorm

We gathered on May 9th to talk about some ideas we had for simple acts of kindness we can do both in the office and outside the office. Some of the suggestions were:

  • Hold the door open for someone

  • Compliment someone on their outfit

  • Buy a coworker a coffee

  • Start a conversation with a stranger

Community Clean Up

To close off this week of kindness and compassion we teamed up with staff from The Village FRN and picked up garbage around our community.
